Leh Ladakh is a high-altitude desert, and the right packing list can make the difference between a comfortable trip and a miserable one. Days can be warm and sunny while nights drop well below freezing, even in summer.

Layer your clothing: a moisture-wicking base layer, a fleece or light sweater, and a windproof/waterproof outer shell. Bring thermal wear if you are traveling between October and April.

Do not skip sun protection. The thin air at this altitude means stronger UV exposure, so pack a high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses with UV protection, and a lip balm with SPF.

Altitude sickness is a real concern above 3,000 meters. Carry any medication your doctor recommends, stay hydrated, and plan for at least a day of acclimatization in Leh before heading further out.

Other essentials include a good pair of trekking shoes, a reusable water bottle, a power bank, and cash, since ATMs can be unreliable in remote areas. GRD Travels itineraries build in acclimatization days and can arrange oxygen cylinders on request for extra peace of mind.
